Pre Cleanse / Detox Strategy

Congratulations on your commitment! A detox program can be extremely inspiring to yourself and the people around you. To enhance the experience, it’s important that you prepare yourself a few days prior to the program.

1. Do not binge before your program: The common thinking when you’re about to detox or fast for the first-time is, “I must (or can) eat as much as possible for a few day since I’m not eating next week”

Unfortunately, the body doesn’t work that way. If you binge and become full today, you will feel hungry tomorrow and next week. The point of a detox is to clean and rest your body. Over-eating right before the program could lead to only pushing out that specific food and can drain your energy quickly. As you get closer to your first day of this program, take the time to be careful of what you eat. Two to Seven (2-7) days before your start date should be your last day of consuming alcohol, tobacco, processed/refined foods and caffeine, to ensure the best results and highest level of comfort during the detox program.

2. Simplify your foods before your cleanse : This detox program is going to limit the amount of consumption you’re normally accustomed to during this period. For this reason, the best way to get ready for your detox is to simplify your food intake and lower the amount per serving starting 3-7 days before your start date. Limit the number of ingredients you use in a meal. Limit the amount you of food you make. Limit the amount you eat. Get ready to detox! If you want to do the calorie controlled meals delivered to your home by The Fresh Diet, Blissberry will set up the service for you at a discounted rate. This meal plan eliminates the calorie guess work and adds convenience by delivering the fresh meals right to your home.

Another tip is to take a look in your refrigerator and cabinets to begin getting rid of tempting foods and beverages. You do not need to necessarily discard them, but remove them from your home until we have completed the detox program so they do not distract you. Also please make arrangements for your family members’ meals during this program. Preparing food for children and/or significant others during the detox can be very distracting.

Avoid eating late at night (in general). It simply doesn’t aid digestion and increases body discomfort throughout the night. The majority of time, people mistake fatigue for hunger and instead of getting rest by going to sleep, they take out the snacks and start nibbling. Instead, drink lots of water and get some rest. You’ll wake up feeling more refreshed.

3. Hydrate: Our bodies must constantly stay hydrated during the detox. Don’t wait until you are thirsty to drink water. Three (3) days before your start date, aim to drink a glass of water every 1-2 hours you are awake. The fact is, even though there is a maximum amount of water one can consume daily, we make an exception as we prepare our bodies for this program. Drinking water also makes you feel full and can help decrease your appetite and cravings. Coconut Water is very hydrating as well.

4. Slow Down : Since you’ve made the commitment to participate in this detox program, make the full commitment! Try to organize your schedule so you are not out and about and are somewhat close to home- ideally in a relaxed setting during the 3 detox days. It is impossible to create a utopia, but try to get as close as you can to increase the results and your comfort level during this program.

This also means no physical activity except for the 2 Detox Yoga sessions if you opted to include them in this program. Your energy levels will be low during this program and you do not want to use what small amount of energy you have to exercise or run errands.

5. Observe your body : This program is all about observation and noting how your body reacts to the progress you make as you work your way through. There’s no specific guideline as to how your body will react to this program. The only guide is your commitment to the program, regardless of whether you’re cleansing for the first time or detox regularly. Headaches, fatigue, and lack of concentration are normal signs of detox.

6. Enlist the support of your friends and family, make sure they know why and when you are cleasning to avoid any distractions.
